Diatomaceous Earth, Food Grade 50 lb. Bag Review

Diatomaceous Earth, Food Grade 50 lb. Bag
Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)
If your room is infested by Bed Bugs and are looking for solution, this is all the thing you need. It works by scratching off bed bugs' exoskeleton so they get dehydrated and die. I tried it on bed bugs as well as roaches, they both die, but roaches die after few days while bed bugs die after merely a few hours!

This is how I test it to make sure it actually work. Most will just throw them in a jar of DE (diatomaceous earth) and watch them die, I think that's too much and not true in real application. Because insects will most likely walk over the DE and hide, so they actually won't expose to the DE continuously.

I caught a lively adult bed bug and put it on a piece of paper, put a circle of DE around it. So when it finally walked over the circle I caught it immediately and put it in an open jar. It walked fast at the first few minutes, and after like 10 minutes it just didn't walk at all unless I kicked his butt. After a few hours I know it was dead because it was so dry that one of its leg came off after shaking the jar very gently!

Avoid paying thousands of dollars for pest control, most of them do not know how to control bed bugs actually. They never take it seriously to really find all the hiding place because it is not their house. They don't give a darn.

Shipping is expensive but the total would be just $60 comparing to hundreds or thousands of dollor you pay for pest control. The reason I gave 4 stars is while DE really works, it does make your room messy. If you can stand the white powder all over the place then this is the perfect solution for killing bed bugs. Cleaning up the powder is actually pretty easy though. Just vacuum them up. Don't worry about leaving any residue, since they are natural and non-chemical. I do recommend leaving DE in crevices, corner, around baseboard and under your bed. Put many of them everywhere in the kitchen if roaches is a problem to you. Leave them and they work for you quietly and efficiently.

Sorry for this unorganized review. I rarely write review for most products I bought, but for this thing I just couldn't help. Because it does works!

Roach Spray II, 9 oz. can Review

Roach Spray II, 9 oz. can
Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)
We were living in Virginia in an apartment. We were getting roaches from another apartment and tried everything. An exterminator came and made no difference. We set out traps and were catching 5 or six roaches a night. Finally my mother-in-law from Texas told me that they use a spray called Bengal and that it works miricles. I had to order it online because they only sell it in the south (it's made in Louisiana). I ordered 2 cans. We sprayed the heck out of our whole kitchen. The roaches stopped coming in from under our sink. A few weeks later we sprayed again to take care of any eggs that may have hatched. This stuff has completely stopped the problem. We spray now every couple of months and I will forever swear by this stuff. Roaches are a hard problem to get rid of but this stuff does the job! I would give it more than five stars if i could.

7 Million Live Beneficial Nematodes Review

7 Million Live Beneficial Nematodes
Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)
We have a German Wire Haired Setter named Maxwell Quincy (Max for short) who is allergic to fleas and flea control products. Max is 11 years old and has had to be medicated every summer for this problem. While doing research on flea control I read about nematodes and decided to give them a try. They have worked wonders for Max, this is the first summer he hasn't had a severe reaction to fleas!

After seeing how well they worked to control the fleas I bought some for the cabbage cut worms in our garden.I am pleased to say that in the 25 years we have had a garden this is the first year we haven't lost one head of cabbage yet.

Plus, if you are worried about this, we have checked a small specimen from each shipment with a microscope and found the nematodes to be alive and well upon receipt. Our grandchildren love watching them and get excited everytime we get a package.

Nematodes prey upon more than just fleas and cut worms so I suggest checking out the list of things they kill.If you have trouble with any of the pests on the list purchase some for yourself and I am sure you will be pleased with the results.Nematodes are microscopic wonders!

A unique blend of plant oils approved by the FDA as food additives. Non-selective insect killer. Effective on most insects including ants, aphids, caterpillars, centipedes, chinch bugs, cockroaches, crickets, earwigs, fleas, flies, gnats, grasshoppers, millipedes, mites, mosquitoes, pillbugs (sow bugs), scale, spiders, ticks, whiteflies, and many more. Non-harmful to plants. Can be used on vegetables, ornamentals, lawns and entire landscape. Product provides residual repellent effect for up to 30 days. May be applied to edible plants up to the day of harvest. Safe around children, pets and wildlife. The active ingredients in these Green Light Products are unique, patented formulations made from plant oils and other ingredients widely used as food and cosmetic additives. These plant oils kill insects by blocking specific neural pathways that don't exist within mammels or birds. These plant oils attack the Octopamine neuro-receptors. Octopamine is a key insect neurotransmitter that regulates insect movement, behavior, and metabolism. The blockage of the receptor activity prevents the transmission of the Octopamine signals which leads to certain characteristic signs of toxity such as excitiation, hyperextension in the hind legs and abdomen, followed by immobilization and/or knock down, followed by death. this process will begin immediately. Mortality can occur within minutes of applicatio, but may take hours depending on the type of insect pest and concentration of product that contacts the insect directly. Bioganic can be used up to the day of harvest on vegetables and other edible plants.

Pyrethrin Spray Concentrate, 1 Pt Review

Pyrethrin Spray Concentrate, 1 Pt
Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)
Been testing this out for a few months.

We live in an apartment complex and bugs, especially roaches has always been a problem. We hate using raid around pets and especially in the kitchen so I decided to look into this.

Pros: It works. Doesn't kill within 5 seconds like raid does, but it does kill within about 45 seconds with direct spraying. It's natural/biodegradable so I don't really expect it to work quite as fast, but it DOES work, for sure. I even sprayed a few and trapped them under a glass and checked them later to make sure they were dead.

Cons: This stuff breaks down really fast in direct light. We used an opaque (non-see-through) white plastic sprayer because I knew this was an issue. It's actually a pro for me that it breaks down in direct light so it's not building up toxins in your house. But, even after using a non-see-through spraying container the stuff lost it's potency after about a week of it just sitting in the sprayer. I have a new small metal sprayer that I'm going to try and see if it works any better.

The container it ships in also leaks if knocked over so watch that. Took me like 2 days to figure out what that intense pepper smell was before I noticed the bottle had tipped over.

St. Gabriel Laboratories All Natural Indoor/Outdoor Insect Dust Repellent - 4.4 lb Bag 50020-7
Average Reviews:

This is wonderful to prevent fleas. We have been using it around our dogs pen, in the pen and in our home. We didn't have a flea problem inside to begin with but we are using it to prevent that. Our dog was bringing in at least 6 fleas every day. We started putting it on the dog and it almost totally keeps the fleas from getting on her which is no small feat. Our house is surrounded by woods and she stays outside most of the day. It is also OK if she ends up eating some of it because it's safe. They actually use it to deworm animals anyway. One of the drawbacks is that diatomaceous earth dries out skin. We haven't had any issues with it yet but we're always watching.

We have also used it on our rose buds and blooms. We dust it right onto the roses. Japanese beetles and June bugs were eating them up but sense we started using the diatomaceous earth, I haven't found but one or two. The roses are much healthier now.

The only drawback is that after a rain or heavy dew, you have to reapply the dust. Also, if you plan to use it on or around your animals, it needs to be food grade.

Adams Flea and Tick Yard Spray with Sprayer Review

Adams Flea and Tick Yard Spray with Sprayer
Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)
This yard spray really does the job especially if you have more of a tick problem than a flea problem. Here in Hawaii, there are a lot of ticks.I usually use Frontline Plus, which worked wonders for my two GSDs who also go to obedience school.Anyhow, one month I forgot, and suddenly there is a tick epidemic in my yard and on my dogs.

So, I ordered some of this spray that I had used a long time ago in the past. The packaging was the same. But there was one problem this time. When you get the box, it comes with a child-safe cap that has a foil seal inside. The spray attachment and inner tube/cap are separate. This tube and inner cap is supposed to fit nicely inside the neck of the bottle so that you can easily screw on the sprayer attachment. So, following the instructions, I took off the foil seal and attempted to put in the tube with the plastic cap.The tube fell out of the inner cap part, and into the bottle.Since this was a new bottle, the concentrate was full, and impossible to get the tube part out without spilling the liquid!I ended up using a thin stick I found in the yard to help fish it out.So, I put the tube back into the inner cap, and then a second problem!

This time, the cap part didn't fit in the neck of the bottle! So, I tried forcing it, and suddenly the bottle "gave" out a little and the concentrated formula overflowed on the outside of the bottle. At this point I was getting pretty grumpy and thinking what the heck, this didn't happen the last time I used this brand!Since I orderd two boxes, I opened up the second box and there was the same problem. So I ended up having to use my brass hose nozzle and scraped it around the bottle opening to "stretch" it out a little.I finally got the cap to fit properly and then attached the sprayer.I then turned on the hose with the sprayer on "off" as per the instructions.Suddenly, the sprayer broke apart and I was blasted with water.Thankfully it was only the end part attached to the hose that somehow snapped off.I was able to snap it back on and turning down the water, proceeded to use it on my lawn.

Overall this is a good product and it works.I guess maybe the bottle and sprayer were made in China since the quality was really poor compared to the last time I used it.

Average Reviews:

The product helped the older larger dogs a LOT more than what was offered locally or at the vet, but didn't kill ALL the fleas.I was just grateful that they were no longer scratching 24/7.However, when we treatedMom's 9 pound, 9 month old Yorkie-poo he had a severe reaction and went into shock and we thought we were going to lose him. He lived thanks to the vets suggestions.I'd test with a drop and wait at least 4-5 hours to make sure yours can tolerate it because it can't be thoroughly removed from their systems. If a reaction occurs you need to bathe them immediately with lots of soap and water to dilute what's on the skin and hasn't been absorbed, encourage them to drink lots of water, and keep them walking and awake until they start to rebound from the effects. As far as our vet knew, there is nothing else that can be done to save a pet from a severe reaction to any of the drops that are out, so treat them like you would yourself with any chemical you put on your skin and just try a tiny bit first.

Kleen Free Naturally, 32oz, Bed Bugs, Scabies, Lice, Mites, any Insect Eliminator and Treatment, all Natural Enzymes, Non-Toxic, Organic, USDA Ecologically Safe, Insect Eliminator, Treatment and Cleaner - (32 oz. Concentrate) Review

Kleen Free Naturally, 32oz, Bed Bugs, Scabies, Lice, Mites, any Insect Eliminator and Treatment, all Natural Enzymes, Non-Toxic, Organic, USDA Ecologically Safe, Insect Eliminator, Treatment and Cleaner -
Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)
This review is targeted towards people who have had an ongoing issue with mites and are desperate to hear from someone who has tried something that worked. I have spent thousands of dollars on various methods over the last ten years to try to get rid of my bug problem. I have tried: moving house, fumigation, throwing out all bedding, beds, linen, various chemicals and powders, vacuuming daily, showering twice a day (washing my bedding daily), listerine, menthol crystals, diatimacious earth, neem oil, baking soda, windex... you name it, I've tried it.

A couple of years ago I kind of resolved to learn to live with the problem. But this year I found some websites on the internet with information from people who had beaten the problem so I spent 6 months trying a range of products that they recommended. I purchased many of the products on the internet and had them posted to me from America to Australia at great expense.

I tried so many things that I cannot be certain whether it was the combination of products that worked in the end or not. But what I can tell you is that this product seemed to make a very radical difference very quickly. It is the only product that I am certain kills the bugs in the wash. This is important to me as my clothing and bedding seemed to be the last battleground with the mites. After ten years I had mostly eradicated them from other areas of my house but I found that I kept reinfecting myself until I started using kleen free. I have only been using kleen for around one month.

I wish I had received this advice when I first got the problem. In fact one of the websites that I followed said that Kleen Free didn't work for them so I didn't bother to try it until I read testimonials on the Kleen Free website that sounded truthful. I doubted that it was going to make a shred of difference though when I bought it.

Again, I'm not certain it will work for you. We are all amateurs out there trying things through trial and error and I'm sure there are a million bugs out there that respond to different products differently. I just know that it worked for my bugs. The fact that it is non toxic is so important. I was using products that I knew were toxic but I had decided that I would take the risk and use the other products anyway because I was so desperate to get rid of the bugs.

If I had to start from scratch again, I would do this:

Cover your mattress and pillows in mattress and pillow protectors that are properly sealed (ones recommended for bed bugs etc, not the flimsy dust mite ones), or wrap in thick plastic and seal with thick tape. You'll get nowhere until you start doing this. Spray the mattress with Kleen Free first though!

Get rid of anything that is non-essential that you could live without (furniture, clothing, books etc.). And when I say "get rid of", I mean throw in the bin - do not donate to charities or sell on ebay - don't pass the problem onto someone else. I threw out 95% of my clothes and ALL my furniture. This was hard to do because I collect vintage clothing and it is hard to replace. I threw out all furniture because the bugs can go in deep and it seemed too hard to keep cleaning, vacuuming my favourite couch etc. I don't regret it. But I highly recommend not buying any new furniture until you have full confidence you have eliminated the problem, and if you do buy something, choose something you can wipe down with few crevices (like plastic chairs etc). (I did this before I came across Kleen Free)

Think of the creatures as you would dust. Wherever dust can reside, so can they. However difficult dust is to eliminate, so are they. This may seem extreme, and if you've only had the problem for a short while, you might think my advice is over the top - it is not. This "dust" also likes to breed! And can do so very quickly. What may start off as a minor problem can become a major and expensive problem within a week. Think of them as breeding dust that can lay eggs that can survive for years. When they do hatch, it takes them around a week to mature and start breeding again. So do the math... you could have millions within a week. And these are worse than dust because you can't see them and they can scurry away very quickly.

Vacuum clean EVERY DAY and everywhere. Use a vacuum with a hepa filter. Throw the bag out everyday if you can afford it. If not, put the bag in a plastic zip-lock back and put that bag in another zip-lock bag and put that bag in the freezer. (My experience makes me think that freezers kill mites but not their eggs). Handle the bag with disposable gloves.

Note: Try not to reinfect anything (as a general rule).

Wash your bedding everyday (in kleen free). Only use towels and clothing once and wash immediately. Put washing in a freezer (or sealed bags) until you can wash them.

Clean (with Kleen free) all areas where you plan to put your clean clothes, bedding etc. (cupboards, drawers etc)

Vacuum your whole house including floors, walls etc as much and often as you can. (This includes shoes).

Tell yourself that this will take you six months to beat! And that it requires planning, persistence and patience - (make that your mantra when you think it is unbearable and no believes you!!!). If it takes less than 6 months it will be a bonus. Also, tell yourself that it might take a month of mad cleaning before you start to notice a difference.

Follow the instructions on the kleen free bottle - bathe in it, spray the whole house etc for the first week then every second day in the second week.

Even if you don't buy this product, the vacuuming and washing of clothes (or disposal) is absolutely essential.
In fact, when I got bitten while wearing an item of clothing (before I discovered Kleen Free), I would take the item of clothing off immediately and throw it in the bin. I also did this with bedding. I would ask myself whether it is worth the trouble of trying to wash the bugs out or not... what is more costly? I bought myself heaps of cheap blankets, sheets and pillows I was willing to throw away every so often... but with Kleen Free, hopefully you won't have to do that. (I stopped doing it when I discovered this product!) I threw out expensive woolen coats etc. too. It's best to wash your clothing in the hottest water possible and in the hottest drier, so I started buying synthetic clothing that could handle such temperatures. Try to buy cheap, synthetic clothing and don't buy too much... throw it out if you're getting bitten too much.

Psychologically, what worked for me was that I tried to keep some kind of tally of how many bites I was getting on a daily basis. At first it was 50, then 20ish then 5, etc. As annoying as five new bites a night is, as least you know it's less than it was last month, so what you are doing is working, so persevere! I remember I used to count how many bites I'd get on the way to work... usually three or four, then down to two, then one. Then one day I remembered that I hadn't counted them for a couple of days. That equalled NO BITES on the way to work! Sure, I was being bitten at night still, but they were disappearing VERY slowly but surely.

As I write this review I am awaiting another bottle of Kleen Free to come from the USA. I didn't follow the instructions correctly when I first bought the product and I ran out of the product very quickly. I also didn't take the baths etc. (because I don't have a bath) I just bought myself an inflatable one on ebay! I have been getting the occasional bite (one these last three weeks). But I know it's because I have reinfected myself with something I haven't treated. I only wash my clothes in Kleen Free now, and I'm saving all that I have left for my washing. When I do the whole program properly, I will amend this review.

I'm writing this review because I feel compelled to help people who need somewhere to start. I know if I post on a bird mite board somewhere people might think I work for the company and not take my review seriously, so I'm posting here.

Good luck to those of you who have had the misfortune of a bird mite infestation!

Later edit:
I just read the review above mine that talked about a bedbug crawling straight through the product. I agree that that would be extremely disconcerting. My bug problem was probably a type of mite, not a bedbug. I don't know if that makes a difference to the effectiveness of the product. If you do have an "invisible" biting mite problem like I did, I would chance this product... it's a relatively cheap low risk. I'm only adding this footnote because if I had come across the negative review and not given it a go that would have been a shame and I wouldn't be experiencing the relief I'm experiencing now.

If you want to check out the ingredients of this product for product comparison's sake, do a google search by including the name of this (or any) product with "MSDS" (Material Safety Data Sheet). All companies by law, must list the ingredients and safety requirements of the product. You will then have the knowledge to make your own judgement. This information is abundantly available on the internet.

Living in Northern Illinois we have problems with lots of insects during the summer months, (specifically ants and earwigs). My husband and I do not have children or pets and together we keep a very clean house. When I first started noticing ants, earwigs, spiders, etc, I tried products from local hardware and home improvement stores and noticed minimal results. Then I went to a costly, professional pest control service and noticed slightly better results, however I still had bugs in my house on a regular basis.I decided to research other pest control methods and stumbled across diatomaceous earth and how it controls pests organically.I read about the positive results people had experienced using it for pest control and how the bugs can't develop a resistance to it.My understanding about the way it works is when the bug gets the powder on itself, the powder actually scrapes the bugs and they end up dying from dehydration.(Similar to a human walking through glass.)(I know it's kind of gross...)Anyway, I decided to give it a try and am very happy that I did.Practically overnight my husband and I stopped seeing earwigs and other bugs in the house. We were simply amazed with the quick results and, since this is organic, we were very happy that we were no longer being exposed to chemicals.I have a few potted plants outside and was so frustrated that they were dying despite regular watering, sunlight and use of a top-grade fertilizer. One night I noticed an earwig crawling around the rim of the pot and wondered if they were the cause for my plants doing so poorly.I decided to put some diatomaceous earth around the top of the pots, (in the dirt), as well as the base of the pots and could not believe how quickly they all perked up.I have to say that these plants have tripled in size since the addition of the diatomaceous earth.I have never had blooming plants look as terrific as these do.

The only drawback to this product is that it must be reapplied after being rained on, but it's a small price to pay to have a bug-free home and beautiful plants.A co-worker of mine kept complaining about ants in her house, (she has kids and pets), and said she's done everything she can think of, (bleaching, chemicals, extra cleaning, covering pet food, etc), but still had ants.I told her about the diatomaceous earth, how it's organic and how I was impressed with the results. She purchased this same product, (Concern diatomaceous earth), and could not believe how quickly it stopped the ants from coming into her house. She has not seen even one ant in her house since a day or so after she put the diatomaceous earth around the perimiter of her house.I would highly, highly recommend this product to anyone who has problems with bugs in their home, in their potted plants or garden.

Myossage Lotion Review

Myossage Lotion

I used Orange Guard on several fire ant mounds, using the manufacturer's instructions of 3 to 1 diluted AND full strength. The mounds were ABANDONED.There were absolutely no ant carcasses to be found AND here is the important point, mounds appeared nearby in short order where there were none before. For emphasis and clarity, I repeat, even at full strength, Orange Guard DID NOT KILL fire ants, it just made them move.If you want to kill fire ants in the most earth friendly way, use boiling water. You will see dead ants, and except for the energy burned boiling water, no possible harm to the earth.BTW, as far as the spinosad based products such as Conserve, although safer than probably all previous such products, studies on spinosad show slight toxicity to birds, moderate toxicity to fish, and slight to moderate toxicity to aquatic invertebrates. However, it is highly toxic to bees and is highly toxic to oysters and other marine mollusks.Again, boiling water (as a nod to Ray Bradbury, I call it Farenheit 212) does no harm to any of these when applied to ant mounds. If you want an ant repellant, it does appear to accomplish that.

The products work well but the problem is you can't dilute it like the directions say. I used it and i loved it. It doesn't burn, it doesn't smell, i have three kittens and I felt safe having them around while I cleaned. With other products it was hassle getting them in another room.
This is a great product if you are wanting to be green-friendly and it lasts forever.
