Diatomaceous Earth, Food Grade 50 lb. Bag Review

Diatomaceous Earth, Food Grade 50 lb. Bag

If your room is infested by Bed Bugs and are looking for solution, this is all the thing you need. It works by scratching off bed bugs' exoskeleton so they get dehydrated and die. I tried it on bed bugs as well as roaches, they both die, but roaches die after few days while bed bugs die after merely a few hours!

This is how I test it to make sure it actually work. Most will just throw them in a jar of DE (diatomaceous earth) and watch them die, I think that's too much and not true in real application. Because insects will most likely walk over the DE and hide, so they actually won't expose to the DE continuously.

I caught a lively adult bed bug and put it on a piece of paper, put a circle of DE around it. So when it finally walked over the circle I caught it immediately and put it in an open jar. It walked fast at the first few minutes, and after like 10 minutes it just didn't walk at all unless I kicked his butt. After a few hours I know it was dead because it was so dry that one of its leg came off after shaking the jar very gently!

Avoid paying thousands of dollars for pest control, most of them do not know how to control bed bugs actually. They never take it seriously to really find all the hiding place because it is not their house. They don't give a darn.

Shipping is expensive but the total would be just $60 comparing to hundreds or thousands of dollor you pay for pest control. The reason I gave 4 stars is while DE really works, it does make your room messy. If you can stand the white powder all over the place then this is the perfect solution for killing bed bugs. Cleaning up the powder is actually pretty easy though. Just vacuum them up. Don't worry about leaving any residue, since they are natural and non-chemical. I do recommend leaving DE in crevices, corner, around baseboard and under your bed. Put many of them everywhere in the kitchen if roaches is a problem to you. Leave them and they work for you quietly and efficiently.

Sorry for this unorganized review. I rarely write review for most products I bought, but for this thing I just couldn't help. Because it does works!

Diatomaceous Earth 10 pounds Review

Diatomaceous Earth 10 pounds
Average Reviews:

Make sure you buy !!Food Grade!! Diatomaceous Earth (DE), !!NOT!! the Pool-Filter Grade, which is heat and chemically treated and is !!T-O-X-I-C!!
This product IS FOOD-GRADE DE.
Avoid contact with the eyes, and excessive inhalation.
DE is the remains of microscopic one-celled plants (phytoplankton) called diatoms that lived in the oceans and lakes that once covered the western part of the US and other parts of the world. These deposits are mined from underwater beds or from ancient dried lake bottoms thousands of years old. This means, DE has an unlimited shelf life provided you keep it dry.
There are food grade DE products that are yellow or tan in color, which indicates a higher iron content. Those that are gray in color contain more clay.
When DE comes in contact with the insects, the sharp edges lacerate the bugs' waxy exoskeleton and then the powdery DE absorbs the body fluids causing death from dehydration. Food grade DE works in a purely physical/mechanical manner, not 'chemical' and thus has no chemical toxicity. Best yet, parasites don't build up a tolerance/immunity to its chemical reaction, so rotation of wormers is unnecessary.

Average Reviews:

This is wonderful to prevent fleas. We have been using it around our dogs pen, in the pen and in our home. We didn't have a flea problem inside to begin with but we are using it to prevent that. Our dog was bringing in at least 6 fleas every day. We started putting it on the dog and it almost totally keeps the fleas from getting on her which is no small feat. Our house is surrounded by woods and she stays outside most of the day. It is also OK if she ends up eating some of it because it's safe. They actually use it to deworm animals anyway. One of the drawbacks is that diatomaceous earth dries out skin. We haven't had any issues with it yet but we're always watching.

We have also used it on our rose buds and blooms. We dust it right onto the roses. Japanese beetles and June bugs were eating them up but sense we started using the diatomaceous earth, I haven't found but one or two. The roses are much healthier now.

The only drawback is that after a rain or heavy dew, you have to reapply the dust. Also, if you plan to use it on or around your animals, it needs to be food grade.

Concern Diatomaceous Earth Crawling Insect Killer Review

Concern Diatomaceous Earth Crawling Insect Killer
Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)
Living in Northern Illinois we have problems with lots of insects during the summer months, (specifically ants and earwigs). My husband and I do not have children or pets and together we keep a very clean house. When I first started noticing ants, earwigs, spiders, etc, I tried products from local hardware and home improvement stores and noticed minimal results. Then I went to a costly, professional pest control service and noticed slightly better results, however I still had bugs in my house on a regular basis.I decided to research other pest control methods and stumbled across diatomaceous earth and how it controls pests organically.I read about the positive results people had experienced using it for pest control and how the bugs can't develop a resistance to it.My understanding about the way it works is when the bug gets the powder on itself, the powder actually scrapes the bugs and they end up dying from dehydration.(Similar to a human walking through glass.)(I know it's kind of gross...)Anyway, I decided to give it a try and am very happy that I did.Practically overnight my husband and I stopped seeing earwigs and other bugs in the house. We were simply amazed with the quick results and, since this is organic, we were very happy that we were no longer being exposed to chemicals.I have a few potted plants outside and was so frustrated that they were dying despite regular watering, sunlight and use of a top-grade fertilizer. One night I noticed an earwig crawling around the rim of the pot and wondered if they were the cause for my plants doing so poorly.I decided to put some diatomaceous earth around the top of the pots, (in the dirt), as well as the base of the pots and could not believe how quickly they all perked up.I have to say that these plants have tripled in size since the addition of the diatomaceous earth.I have never had blooming plants look as terrific as these do.

The only drawback to this product is that it must be reapplied after being rained on, but it's a small price to pay to have a bug-free home and beautiful plants.A co-worker of mine kept complaining about ants in her house, (she has kids and pets), and said she's done everything she can think of, (bleaching, chemicals, extra cleaning, covering pet food, etc), but still had ants.I told her about the diatomaceous earth, how it's organic and how I was impressed with the results. She purchased this same product, (Concern diatomaceous earth), and could not believe how quickly it stopped the ants from coming into her house. She has not seen even one ant in her house since a day or so after she put the diatomaceous earth around the perimiter of her house.I would highly, highly recommend this product to anyone who has problems with bugs in their home, in their potted plants or garden.

Permethrin 10% 32oz Review

Permethrin 10% 32oz
Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)
I have used Pyrethrin many years for general insect control, inside and outside, with great results. In my opinion, it is one of the best natural insecticides available on the market. The reason for 3 stars is that I was not aware of the difference between Pyrethrin and Permethrin, and there is no mention of this anywhere in the product description. When I searched Amazon for Pyrethrin, both products came up leading me to believe they were the same, only labeled differently.

The difference being Pyrethrin is a natural extract from the chrysanthemum plant, and will not harm mammals, fish, or, birds. Permethrin belongs to the family of synthetic chemicals called Pyrethroids. It is extremely toxic to fish and cats, and has been linked to poisoning dogs as a flea/tick repellent. It is not as environmentally safe to use as Pyrethrin. Therefore, it is not the same thing, and I think buyers need to be made aware of this. Permethrin does work very well for general insect control, but I would be very cautious using it on dogs, or livestock for flea/tick and fly control. If you are looking for a "natural" insecticide, pay more for Pyrethrin. Otherwise this is a good product for general insect control, and is certainly less toxic than many commercial insecticide alternatives.

Perma-Guard Diatomaceous Earth DE Food Grade 50 lb bag Review

Perma-Guard Diatomaceous Earth DE Food Grade 50 lb bag
Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)
Perma-Guard Diatomaceous Earth DE Food Grade works effectively externally to get rid of fleas. It takes effort and patience, but it also clears worms and other parasites from dogs between 7 - 45 days. My one chi is over 45 days now, and I am not certain if it is over yet, but it seems to be. Not a chemical or pesticide, it is also for garden and humans, too. This is food grade, not pool grade. Pool grade will probably kill you; be sure to purchase food grade - it is harmless; follow directions.
Great price on Amazon - but the shipping $$$ is high, IMHO. Bottom line: good product, good price, no pesticides. My little chi gets seizures from chemicals, and my 55lb. dog is 15 years old, and I am happy not to give either of them chemicals or poisons, which ultimately effect us, too. READ DIRECTIONS, follow them and you will be pleased.

Product Description:
Food Grade Diatomaceous Earth (Fossil Shell Flour) has many uses: in the household, with pets, on plants, around livestock, and for stored grain. It is totally organic and listed with OMRI.With more than 600 deposits of diatomite west of the Mississippi-and only four (to our knowledge) that can be considered food grade-it is very important that people know what they are using. The vast majority of diatomite deposits are impure. When diatomite is formed, water currents bring in foreign material that mixes with the microscopic diatom shells. This type of diatomite is absolutely without value for practical purposes, but many people tend to think that if it is "Diatomaceous Earth," then it has the same value as other, purer deposits. There are many places where diatomite deposits can be loaded up "for free," but generally this substance has no value. If this impure diatomite is sold for practical usage, the customer may end up with an unpleasant surprise.Home: Food Grade Diatomaceous Earth as an Organic PesticideFood Grade Diatomaceous Earth is used around the house as an organic pesticide for the control of ants, cockroaches, silverfish, bedbugs, fleas, box elder bugs, scorpions, crickets, ticks, and many other unwelcome pests. Natural ant control is one of the biggest reasons for the usage of Food Grade Diatomaceous Earth in and around the home. For complete ant control, simply sprinkle the area of concern with fossil shell flour (DE). When the ants or other pests come in contact with the powder, it is like stepping on broken glass, they will be killed or abandon the area.Pets: Food Grade Diatomaceous Earth for Flea, Tick, and Lice ControlFood Grade Diatomaceous Earth is an effective, organic pesticide against fleas, ticks, lice, and other pests that bother our pets.Plants: Food Grade Diatomaceous Earth as a Natural InsecticideUse Perma-Guard Food Grade Diatomaceous Earth as a natural insecticide for the non-chemical control.

Fleas Away Boric Acid Carpet Treatment - 1 Lb. Review

Fleas Away Boric Acid Carpet Treatment - 1 Lb.
Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)
The good: This stuff works. Fleas are history! Period. It is about as non-toxic to pets and people as a flea killer can be. Compared to the high toxicity of traditional insecticide-based sprays, boric acid is innocuous. One treatment lasts for months. Even better, fleas never seem to develop any resistance to boric acid like they do to insecticides. Finally, boric acid is much, much cheaper than insecticides.

Notes: Boric acid takes four to six weeks to do its job. Be patient!. It kills slowly but effectively until *all* fleas and eggs are gone. After the initial kill, the effects last for months.

Boric acid is a white, flour-like dust. The lady of this house (the boss) would tell you that she loves the 100% effective flea control but does not like the unsightly, dusty coating on furniture. You must put up with the dusty appearance for *at least a week*, until you do the the first vacuuming.

I, on the other hand, could not care less about the appearance. From my point of view (1) the fleas are history, (2) neither she, nor I nor our pets are poisoned as we would be by the very toxic insecticide-based treatments, (3) the boric acid effect lasts for months and (4) fleas do not develop a resistance to boric acid. At least they have not developed any in the 15 years we've used it for flea control.

Comment: In contrast, while insecticide based flea controls are generally effective, they are also *toxic* to people and pets. The younger or older the people and pets, the more troublesome these effects are. Fleas develop resistance to insecticides. You have to use stronger and stronger insecticides, larger doses, rotate among insecticides, etc. to maintain their efficacy. This is bad cycle to get into for your health and your pets health. Enough said.

I bought this originally because I thought our cats had fleas and wanted to spray around their areas. It's turned out to be a great all around product. It doesn't smell chemical-y, aggravate my allergies, or give me a headache like some sprays do, and I feel comfortable spraying it in the kitchen or around the cats' feeding area, where we had an ant problem. You can really control the direction of the spray and get into nooks and crannies easily.I even chased a big fly around and sprayed it dead.Normally would never be able to kill something like that. It's also good if bugs in general give you the heebie jeebies and you want to be able to kill them from a few feet away.Especially great for apartment city dwellers who can't control the cleanliness of their neighbors...

Diatomaceous Earth 3 pounds Review

Diatomaceous Earth 3 pounds
Average Reviews:

We live in a building in White Plains, NY that is affected by bedbugs. We've had several of these nasty parasites in our apartment over the past 9 months. 3 months ago my wife discovered this product, and purchased the 3 pound container that you see here. We started sprinkling it around our apartment: we did the perimeter baseboard, pulled up our area rugs and dusted the floorboards, and even put it between our box spring and mattress.

We've found bedbugs dried up around our apartment in the areas that we've treated, so it's successful as a treatment for bedbugs. The fact that it is pet-safe (you can feed it to your pets to de-worm them? crazy) gives us peace of mind about our cat stepping in it and washing her paws later.

If you put this down on your floors, be sure to have good ventilation. We didn't realize how long this powder would hang in the air when we first treated our bedroom: we did that at night, then had to quick get the Ionic Breeze into our room so we wouldn't sneeze all night.

Our exterminator didn't know about diatomaceous earth before he came to treat our apartment. I showed him this product and explained how it worked; he has now incorporated it into his arsenal of bedbug toxins.

Product Description:
Flea Free is an All Natural Liquid Supplement, which when added to your pet's drinking water is ingested and goes to work internally. When Flea Free enters the pet's system, it produces an enzyme that shields the protein the female needs to lay eggs. Not able to find what she is looking for, she exits the animal in search of another host to feed on. If she does not draw blood every 20 - 24 hours, she will die. The male does not bite, and having nothing to fertilize leaves the animal also. This breaks the reproductive cycle. Works on all blood feeing insects: fleas, ticks, mites, lice, mosquitoes and biting flies. Flea Free has over 200 vitamins, minerals and enzymes, so it not only gets rid of insects, it also is a superb food supplement that makes the pet healthy, while it conditions the fur and skin. It has been documented that scratching stops, hair grows back and fur becomes full and thick after using Flea Free. The basic ingredients of Flea Free are Vinegar, Garlic, Citrus & Herbs. Flea Free is SAFE for all animals. It is easy to use (1 tablespoon of Flea Free to 1 quart of drinking water. It is healthy and it works. Our Motto - It works or it's FREE. (64 oz.)

Diatomaceous Earth 12oz Shaker Review

Diatomaceous Earth 12oz Shaker
Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)
We had a lot of cockroaches. A lot. It was disgusting. Apparently, they were in the walls, and other condos had problems with them as well. We started out only lightly dusting the Diatomaceous Earth through the kitchen, which is where the biggest problem was. A few weeks went by, and no doubt, some of them were dead. You can tell they were dehydrated. At one point, my boyfriend saw one of them stumbling as if it were drunk, covered in white powder. I knew it was working. We had to sweep them away constantly. But, did they all die? No. We started sprinkling more and more. At one point, the little kitchen was covered in white.

It's very eco-friendly, which is why I tried it. The dog and cat didn't go near it, but it didn't affect them. My boyfriend, who has severe allergies, wasn't affected by it as well. But, some of those suckers wouldn't die! Maybe the other reviewers didn't have as bad as a problem as we did. But, once we moved out (we didn't move out because of the cockroaches, but they did help) and we took away all of the food and moisture, they were pretty much gone.

So yes, it did work. I still have some. It lasts a long time. If I see some in our new place, I will no doubt use it again. Maybe our problem was just too big for this powder.
