(More customer reviews)I used Orange Guard on several fire ant mounds, using the manufacturer's instructions of 3 to 1 diluted AND full strength.The mounds were ABANDONED.There were absolutely no ant carcasses to be found AND here is the important point, mounds appeared nearby in short order where there were none before.For emphasis and clarity, I repeat, even at full strength, Orange Guard DID NOT KILL fire ants, it just made them move.If you want to kill fire ants in the most earth friendly way, use boiling water.You will see dead ants, and except for the energy burned boiling water, no possible harm to the earth.BTW, as far as the spinosad based products such as Conserve, although safer than probably all previous such products, studies on spinosad show slight toxicity to birds, moderate toxicity to fish, and slight to moderate toxicity to aquatic invertebrates. However, it is highly toxic to bees and is highly toxic to oysters and other marine mollusks.Again, boiling water (as a nod to Ray Bradbury, I call it Farenheit 212) does no harm to any of these when applied to ant mounds.If you want an ant repellant, it does appear to accomplish that.

(More customer reviews)Don't waste your time like I did with others.Use this product and be done with insects for months.I suggest putting one to a room leaveing the air running and staying out of your house for at least two-three days.I do it when I'm going on a trip so that it really sets in on everything.I'm telling you, nothing lives.It has worked for me up to 8 months at a time, usally around 6.I even use it in my garage and storage areas.

I've been through a lot of different ones, but when I found this I haven't looked back.I've been using it now for over 5 years.

It doesn't burn, it doesn't smell, i have three kittens and I felt safe having them around while I cleaned. With other products it was hassle getting them in another room.

(More customer reviews)I used K9 Advantix because I was bringing my dog with me on vacation into a remote camp in tick-infested woods.I used three-quarters of the 20 lb. dose on my 13 lb. poodle.Approx. 12 hours after application, she began to have terrible neurological symptoms, running in circles and crying, jerking and jumping.Her nose became very hot and her breathing became rapid and shallow.We were up all night.By the time I got instructions over the telephone to wash it off with liquid dish detergent, it had been 24 hours.She survived, but the cartilage in her throat has been damaged and her bark is permanently changed.If you are using this product for the first time, PLEASE use only half the recommended dose and standby with the liquid dish detergent.If your dog can stand it, you can apply the rest two days later.The only antidote for permethrin poisoning is to wash it off with liquid dish detergent within the first 24 hours!If this product touches human skin, call a poison control center immediately!Many dogs have been injured, and deaths have been attributed to K9 Advantix.If you feel you must use it, first read the horror stories on the internet.Bayer Animal Health should have included on the box instructions on how to wash it off with detergent immediately if there was an adverse reaction.

(More customer reviews)Having chronic allergies to toxic chemicals and household exposures, I decided to give natural ELF for Bed Bugs a try with some skepticism after a recent alarming outbreak. I am now spraying ELF for Bed Bugs as directed in every room that I detected and suspected Bed Bugs.I also tested the solution on my forearm without any reaction. It has no chemical smell and doesn't affect my allergies. So far, there have been no new bites or blood spots on my sheets in the morning! But I have found bed bug remains to vacuum up by the back edge of my headboard.
I have tried to follow the directions carefully and treated the entire surfaces of my Mattress and box springs, on every side...then sprayed my bed frame, head board, foot board, carpeting, and the rest of the furniture like they said. I also noticed a couple of cracks near the wall outlets and corners that look like possible nesting areas, so I was very careful to spray without directly wetting the live plugs.
The instructions also had me spray and inspect all my furniture, baseboards, curtains, pictures, especially furniture just gotten from somewhere else (they say that this is one of the more common ways that the Bed Bugs arrive on the scene). In my case, I had just moved some things back from the lake house. At first it seemed like a nuisance, but it really is better being clean, organized, and Bed Bug Free again!
I sprayed the solution everywhere the bugs can hide and have repeated every day now. I'm going to spray every day for a week. Then as the directions say, use it every other day for another week.That makes sense to me, because as eggs may hatch, and they probably will, that should knock out the new babies and cut the cycle.
Another great benefit I was happy to discover is that ELF safely kills fleas and mites without inflaming the old hot spots on one of our dogs. That has been truly amazing and a relief to him, so I'm going to recommend ELF to our Vet and anyone who wants to safely kill small aggravating bugs dead!

I have 2 dogs that were on a topical flea & tick prevention treatment that stopped working.I live in Florida and the fleas were ridiculously bad this spring, early summer.I could not get my dogs to the vet for 2 weeks as no appointments were available.Well, needless to say within 3 days my house was infested with fleas.They got so bad that if you walked around in white socks, it looked like someone poured a jar of black pepper on them.I got the Siphotrol. You gotta love next day delivery, and applied per the directions on the container.In 10 mins the number of fleas that could be seen was reduced to almost nothing, 30 mins later not one flea could be found alive.Dogs were put on a medication for flea and tick prevention 11 days later, still no fleas after applying the siphotrol and before they were put on new medication.Never even had to re-apply.Its been over 7 months an I can proudly report have not seen one flea anywhere.This stuff is amazing!!!!!A must have for any owner of a pet that goes outdoors!!!!

Now the foggers.It says it covers 4000 sq ft.But just in case, I opened all the doors to the 6 rooms of the apartment, and set off 1 in each open area.

Came back 4 hours later.And fleas jumped on my feet.No change at all.Unbelievable.plus, I haven't met one person who said it worked for them.

This intrigued me since I was making effort to grow my garden organically and was having problems with pests even with chemical usage. I decided to try this neem oil myself on my vegetable garden. The results are just amazing! Nothing eats my plants anymore, pests are in check both above and below the ground. I can spray plants with the neem oil mixture and also treat the soil for cutworms, nematodes etc. This product seems to provide a force field of protection leaving the plants to grow full leaves, good blossoms and turn into fruit. I no longer use any type of chemical. I have discarded them all and now i only have one item - NEEM OIL. Try it. You'll never need anything else.

(More customer reviews)Our vet recommended this product and I am so glad she did!It is much better than the many others I have used in the past.It actually performs better than many others, by also covering both ticks and mosquitos, which some others don't.It provides a significant savings, 70% less, dose per dose, than other topicals (K-9 Advantix) and even more for the Comfortis tablets I had been using.You can't beat that!The dogs don't mind having it applied and I've seen no negative side effects at all.I live in the deep south where fleas are a year-round problem and have tried several approaches.Spraying the yard and the dog was first, but that was time consuming, messy, and not very effective.I used other topicals from the vet, Frontline and Advantage, which were a lot better than the sprays, but also were much more costly and didn't cover all pests.After years of those topicals, one of my dogs developed a skin problem and needed medicated baths weekly.We began to notice fleas again. A careful look at the fine print of the package insert and website revealed that the one we used could be removed by bathing with detergent shampoos.I then switched to Comfortis, a tablet, but felt uneasy about giving an oral pesticide to my dogs.It seemed like they were less active after a dose and once in a while one would vomit bile a few hours after a dose.I like that this product is applied topically and that it covers so many pests/parasites, but especially like that it stays effective after bathing. (To maximize effectiveness, I bathe one or two days prior to applying Omnitrol.) And who can't use the extra savings right now?This is a great product.

Preventic Tick Collar Review

(More customer reviews)As stated, these collars are intended to prevent Ticks from attaching to your dog.This is NOT a Flea collar.You may still find ticks that end up walking around on your dog, but this collar will likely kill them or keep them from biting/latching on to your dog.Here's how we started using Preventic collars:
We started using Frontline about 6 years ago and although we continue to use it today, we were finding ticks still attached to our dogs, engorged with blood.After we lost one of our dogs to Lyme's Disease, we decided to try these Preventic collars in addition to the Frontline.I know we are 'double-dosing' our dogs by using 2 products at once (and we get reprimanded by our Vet) - but after 2 years of using Frontline AND Preventic, the dogs have not had an adverse reaction, and it is VERY rare that we ever find a tick attached to any of our dogs.
***I don't recommend that everyone start using both Preventic and Frontline.We were desperate - we wanted to protect our dogs from the fate that one experienced.Using both could pose a health risk for your dog.
I've heard very good results from people who use the Advantix product on their dogs, but it is VERY dangerous to use around cats (we have too many cats that rub on the dogs) and although we did try the Advantix once on our dogs - all of our dogs had a reaction (itchy) to it.
So, until something else comes on the market that produces better results, we're sticking with the Frontline and these Preventic collars.These collars are also packaged under the name Zema - also made by Virbac, Inc. and have the same ingredient (9% Amitraz).I don't know if they are exactly the same or not.The Preventic collar states that it will kill ticks UP TO 90 days.The Zema collar (formally known as "Tick Arrest" collars) state that they kill ticks for 75 days and I've found that they are a little less expensive.
