Fleas Away Boric Acid Carpet Treatment - 1 Lb. Review

(More customer reviews)The good: This stuff works. Fleas are history! Period. It is about as non-toxic to pets and people as a flea killer can be. Compared to the high toxicity of traditional insecticide-based sprays, boric acid is innocuous. One treatment lasts for months. Even better, fleas never seem to develop any resistance to boric acid like they do to insecticides. Finally, boric acid is much, much cheaper than insecticides.

Notes: Boric acid takes four to six weeks to do its job. Be patient!. It kills slowly but effectively until *all* fleas and eggs are gone. After the initial kill, the effects last for months.

Boric acid is a white, flour-like dust. The lady of this house (the boss) would tell you that she loves the 100% effective flea control but does not like the unsightly, dusty coating on furniture. You must put up with the dusty appearance for *at least a week*, until you do the the first vacuuming.

I, on the other hand, could not care less about the appearance. From my point of view (1) the fleas are history, (2) neither she, nor I nor our pets are poisoned as we would be by the very toxic insecticide-based treatments, (3) the boric acid effect lasts for months and (4) fleas do not develop a resistance to boric acid. At least they have not developed any in the 15 years we've used it for flea control.

Comment: In contrast, while insecticide based flea controls are generally effective, they are also *toxic* to people and pets. The younger or older the people and pets, the more troublesome these effects are. Fleas develop resistance to insecticides. You have to use stronger and stronger insecticides, larger doses, rotate among insecticides, etc. to maintain their efficacy. This is bad cycle to get into for your health and your pets health. Enough said.

(More customer reviews)I've been using this product on my dog for a year now and I'd say we've only found about 4 or 5 fleas on her.We live in Florida by lots of trees and a canal in the back yard and still she hardly gets any fleas. We also only bathe her 1 every 2 weeks and she lives in the house, shes about 21 lbs. For me this shampoo has saved her from the health damaging effects of using all those flea collars and flea meds.Keep in mind you cant expect to use a product like this and never see any fleas but the most shes had at one time was one and Id much rather pick one flea off her than put those toxic products into her blood and body.I highly reccomend this product.

If we had read the website before we used Hartz Flea Control perhaps our beloved Bassett Hound would still be alive.

If this company Hartz truly cared about our pets they would have recalled their flea control products.

Our Bassett Hound died a few days after using the Hartz Flea Control product.Hartz claimed that their product did not kill our dog.They have a Vet who works for Hartz that took our call, they wanted to test our dog but the dog was already buried by then. Your cannot imagine the grief and guilt and we felt...then we found the website www.hartzvictims.org.

(More customer reviews)I bought Advantage for both cats under 9 lbs and dogs under 10 lbs for my parents. They have 3 cats and 2 dogs that became subject to a plague of fleasduring the 2 weeks I was visiting.

I've used Frontline for my 2 dogs in the past and was very happy with it, but for 5 animals Frontline is a big expense. Advantage is a little less expensive. I researched the differences between the two and basically it comes down to Frontline will also handle ticks whereas Advantage is just for fleas. People seemed happy with both products.

Biospot is cheaper than both but totally useless. I was a little anxious about using Advantage without knowing if it worked as well as Frontline.

We put it on all the animals the afternoon the package arrived. That night one of the cats was sitting on me. I got up to go to the store and noticed two fleas on me. Later she was on me again and when I got up there were 8! She moved to my father's lap and when he got up he had 17 on him. All the fleas were dying and moving from their food source, but alas it was too late for them.

I didn't realize how many fleas the animals had. Advantage worked great. I am not sure how it will do in the long run, but the pets are relieved for now.

I still use Frontline for my dogs because we go hiking where there are ticks galore. Advantage is a good solution for my folks because their pets stay indoors or their yard. I think the applicator is easier to use with Advantage. None of our pets had any adverse effects from using either product.

I got the product from entirely pets (one of the amazon vendors). I've made purchases from them a few times now and am very happy with them. They have great prices and ship super fast. (They also have the best prices on Nylabone Dental Dinosaurs)
