Bio Spot Spot On for Cats over 5 lbs., 3 Month Supply Review

Bio Spot Spot On for Cats over 5 lbs., 3 Month Supply
Average Reviews:

I bought this on sale, figuring it was worth a try since it was significantly cheaper than Advantage or Frontline. What I didn't realize until I went to apply it was that the dose you apply is MUCH larger in volume than those other brands...probably 3-4 times as much. With Advantage, the cats have a greasy spot on the back of their head for a couple of days. With this stuff, it is a huge patch, and it persisted for at least a week. Which meant it got on the furniture, rugs, etc.As far as I know, it worked OK to repel fleas (they didn't get any). But it's too messy, unless your cats are 100% outdoor cats.

Frontline Plus Dogs - Large 45 to 88 lb - 12 pk

I've been using frontline plus for awhile now (bought it straight from the vet). After spending time in the woods or camping I've found many ticks on my dogs; most of which have been bit into the skin.

I called frontline customer line and told them this. The woman said that this was perfectly normal, and that frontline is not a preventative tick medicine. Frontline works by killing ticks within 24-48 hours of biting into the dog!!! Doing a little research online I found that 36hrs is the average time that a Tick could potentially begin to transmit Lyme disease. Some ticks begin transmitting the disease immediately.Dog owners need to know that frontline is better than nothing, and will kill ticks, but not necessarily before they are able to transmit disease to your dog.... This fact was confirmed by frontline's customer support line.

Please, do not use this product!!!! I have to warn anybody who will listen... This product can be harmful if not fatal to cats! My cat died because of a very similar product. I want to warn everyone. Do not use Hartz drops either as they are just as dangerous! The only safe flea/tick medication is frontline advantage available from your vet. Yes, it is more expensive but isn't your pet's life worth it? Please believe me, I am not making this up or exaggerating! I lost my female cat and my male cat is still recovering from this poison. Please Please Please be safe and listen to my warning.

Program White for dogs 46-90 lbs 12 month supply Review

Program White for dogs 46-90 lbs 12 month supply

*Note*You may see this review on more than one size of this product. That is because I used it on a bunch of my pets and they were different weights :)

After experiencing a flea infestation and trying just about every product out there (I did NOT use a flea bomb), this product saved my sanity!Along with it's partner - Capstar - I can say I have no more fear of a flea infestation.

Program is a pill your pet takes once a month for preventative measures. The Capstar is a pill you give your pet at the first sighting of a flea.It says it starts to work within 1/2 hour, mine worked even faster.

I don't know that you can say any more - these products were awesome!I will never use another product as, in my opinion, this one will save you time and money in the long run.Your pet will agree!

As a side note - I overheard my vet telling a client that the flea bombs are worthless and not to use them as they do not actually get into the cracks and crevices where fleas and their eggs hide.

One other note is to remember to wash all your bedding and vacuum everywhere (especially your furniture and under beds and furniture with open bottoms) in your house if you have a flea infestation.Seeing a couple fleas on your animals may or may not warrant that. Also remember to empty your vacuum cleaner right away after vacuuming and dispose of the bag or contents in a bag, seal and put in a garbage can ASAP so the live fleas do not get back out and reinfest your home.

FRONTLINE PLUS for Dogs and Puppies - Up to 22 lbs - 12 month supply Review

FRONTLINE PLUS for Dogs and Puppies - Up to 22 lbs - 12 month supply
Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)
Our 2 puppies got it this year and, as far as I can tell, they are bug-free so far. I can't say whether this is because of Frontline or because there are no fleas in surroundings but, until evidence to the contrary emerges, I will give Frontline the credit.

The makers claim that Frontline Plus kills all fleas and prevents re-infestation for up to one month. For 'paralysis tick' protection, bi-weekly application is recommended but results are not guaranteed.

The product comes in a number of 'pipettes' that contain an oily-sticky liquid that is applied on the back of the dog's neck's, on the skin (must part the coat until the skin is visible). The makers recommend monthly applications.

I found it easy to treat the dogs. Given the relatively high price of this product, I've been using one pipette for our 2 puppies. As they are now big, this may no longer be an option but I can see how this option could be a money saver for anyone who has 2 'not so large' dogs.

I am taking one star away because of the ridiculously high price.

Switched to Advantix at vet's recommendation. One of my two dogs developed a tremendous rash throughout his back and sides shortly after it was applied. After some research, I found many dog owners with similar problems using Advantix.Frontline may not be as strong, or as effective for certain parasites and bugs, but at least it does not harm my dog.

Sentry PurrScriptions Plus Flea and Tick Squeeze-On for Cats and Kittens 5-Pound and Over Review

Sentry PurrScriptions Plus Flea and Tick Squeeze-On for Cats and Kittens 5-Pound and Over
Average Reviews:

I found this product effective, and reasonably priced (as always, shop around).Fleas have been worse this year than before, and we had to shampoo all the cats & dogs (ineffective, Zodiac shampoo from PetCo did not get all the fleas on the cats - some survived), fogged the house twice, put orthoboric acid powder in the carpets & crevices (helps, but is slow acting), and finally tried this product on a group of the cats - it was effective, so we bought enough to treat all the cats (and Frontline for the 2 dogs - read too many negative reaction stories about the Sargents Sentry product for dogs - no personal experience with it on dogs). I can say this product works well for cats, and we treated 24 different cats with no adverse reactions - a pretty good test.

Frontline Plus for Cats 12 month Review

Frontline Plus for Cats 12 month
Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)
In my household of several cats, many of whom enjoy going outdoors (and bringing occasional things inside, including fleas), we need something to keep the pests (the fleas, not the cats) under control. Frontline is one of the better products available for this purpose.

I've tried other solutions - flea collars, products from other sources, and have only found one other item that matches the Frontline effectiveness for eliminating fleas. Within a day of the first use, the cats had stopped scratching and licking incessantly at their fleas. One of my cats is particularly allergic to fleas, and breaks out with sores at the flea bites - for him, Frontline is nothing short of a miracle.

I have known cats to have serious reactions to the flea drops from some companies. My cats have had absolutely no bad reactions to the Frontline applications.

This is a product I will definitely buy again. My cats give this a big 16 paw salute (four cats, four paws each, you get the drift).

Product Description:
Designed for cats and kittens eight weeks or older, this easy-to-apply flea treatment provides long-lasting, effective control against fleas, ticks, and chewing lice. The fast-acting remedy kills 98 to 100 percent of adult fleas within 24 hours, before they lay eggs. Its active ingredient fipronil (kills newly acquired adult fleas) has been combined with the trusted insect growth regulator (S)-methoprene, which kills flea eggs, larvae, and prevents pupae development. Fipronil collects in the oils of the skin and hair follicles, and continues to be released from hair follicles onto the skin and coat, resulting in long-lasting activity against fleas and all stages of four major ticks, including the one that may carry Lyme disease. Research demonstrates that a monthly treatment kills adult fleas, flea eggs, and flea larvae (preventing development of all flea stages) for up to six weeks and kills ticks for at least one month. Easy to use, simply apply contents of the applicator through the animal's fur to the skin level between the shoulder blades. Achieve maximum protection with monthly applications, all year round, but be sure not to apply twice within 30 days. Each packet includes 12 topical applications for 12 months of protection.

Tape Worm Tabs Feline (Praziquantel) 23 mg, 3 Tablets Review

Tape Worm Tabs Feline 23 mg, 3 Tablets
Average Reviews:

When I took in my latest stray kitten, I thought I had sufficiently separated her from my other cats before she was dewormed. Well to my shock and horror I discovered a month later that my existing cats now had worms! I could not get an appointment with my vet, so I looked on Amazon and found the Tradewinds Tape Worm Tablets. When the pills arrived in the mail, I was a little dissappointed - they were way too big to get my cats to swallow. They just kept spitting them out. So I crushed them up and added it to some canned wet food. My cats were not fooled. These pills must taste awful to cats because it took me over an hour to hand feed them this stuff. Even so, I must say it was worth it. Within 3 days I no longer had the disgusting experience of seeing those nasty tapeworm segments. It really works. The only reason I give it 4 stars and not 5 is because it was so hard to get my cats to take. A liquid form would be much better.

Magic Coat Flea & Tick Shampoo for Cats, 12-Ounce Review

Magic Coat Flea & Tick Shampoo for Cats, 12-Ounce
Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)
My short-haired kittens, now ~12 weeks old, came from the shelter with a free! bonus! infestation of fleas, so I treated the house with frequent vacuuming and very liberal application of Buck Mountain Herbal Gold Parasite Dust, and I treated the animals with Frontline Plus. However, I must have misapplied the Frontline (i.e., put it in a spot where they could lick it off, and didn't sequester the kittens from each other so they couldn't lick the medicine off each other before it dried). The stuff worked dramatically at first, but the kittens never really stopped scratching, and two weeks later, I started seeing adult fleas running around again.

Since I can't reapply Frontline to the boys for another two weeks, this morning I washed them with this shampoo. I lathered each kitten up in turn, starting at his head and paying special attention to his ears, where the fleas like to hang out. I kept the lather on for as close to five minutes as I could, per the directions on the bottle. There were a few dead fleas in the water when I was done, but even as I toweled the boys dry, it was clear that many more live insects were left on their bodies.

Since then, the kittens have been bright, clean, fluffy, soft, . . . and scratching more than ever. Every time I look at them, I see a flea crawling somewhere in their fur--vigorous and seemingly unscathed. It really seems like all this flea shampoo did was to make the fleas more mobile, and more aggressive.

So tomorrow I'll try combing, Victor sticky flea traps, and lots more vacuuming and laundering. I'll use this shampoo for future kitten baths, because I already have it and it seems to leave the boys' fur in a nice state, but I won't expect it to help with the flea problem at all. Disappointing.

When I ordered the product it didn't show anywhere how many doses it had. So I clicked on the first picture of the product to enlarge it and it read 6 applications. I never clicked on the second picture because they looked identical. I was surprised to recieve a box with 3 applications and my paperwork was circle on the 3. I relooked at the web site and still didn't see where it said 3 months instead of 6. Then I clicked on the second picture to enlarge it and saw the 3 applications. Since I have purchased the product it looks like they have removed the 6 month one but I still feel riped off. If the product doesn't specify do not go by the picture.

Program Orange for cats up to 10 lbs 6 month supply
Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)
I have been using the program for several years on my cats. I don't feel comfortable spreading some toxic insecticide on their fur so this is a better choice for me. Instead of killing fleas it sterilizes them so they cannot reproduce. It is taken with food and works as birth control for fleas, so it takes 3 months for all the fleas to be sterilized and stop reproducing. I have no fleas on my cats, nor in my house after using this for many years. Because I have been involved with feral cats in my neighborhood, this is often the only way to administer flea control as they are too wild to be touched and will not approach. So I mix it in with their food. That way their fleas will not get passed to my indoor cats either.

My cat is allergic to Frontline and Advantage, which are topical pesticides that get ingested when the cat grooms itself. He would get a lump on his neck wherever I would apply it, so I stopped using topical insecticide for flea control.

I really like Program. It controls fleas for a month, and I never have a problem with my cat getting sick. I put the medication into a little bowl with tuna juice from a can, mix it up, and he drinks it right away.

Even if your cat has a flea infestation, just give them a flea bath and use Program. You can also use Capstar which works faster than anything else, and kills all the fleas on your cat in 5 minutes, but is not long-lasting. The people that give this product a bad review need to realize that if you cat is infested, you need to do something about the active fleas and the eggs. Program is an ovacide that prevents fleas from reproducing so it won't stop an infestation, but it's so much safer for your cat. I'll never use anything else.
