It really kicked in good on the 3 to 4 month and from that point on no more eggs, larva or baby fleas. The other thing is it must remain in their blood stream so it has to be given every 30 days. For it to work right you have to kind of commit yourself to using it on a regular basis for the longhaul . I think it is worth doing. It does work very well at what it does

I used a good dip about a week before applying the bio Spot. It's been 30 days and the dogs all still have the fleas.I went into the bio Spot web site to find out if there was an expiration date because the packages I received were packaged in 2006 .....bio Spot says the product it good for 2 to 3 years if stored properly.

(More customer reviews)Sargeant's Gold and other products by Hartz are garbage.Enter the name in a google or bing search.Check out the hundreds of people who have found out the hard way that their products have extreme side effects, up to and including death of the animal.Talk to your vet BEFORE you use any over the counter product.Stick with FRONTLINE and similar products which DO NOT enter the bloodstream.

I used Sargeant's Gold flea and tick medicine and my 7 lb. HavaMalt (Havanese and Maltese) has been sick all night.He has been going nuts scratching and itching.He can't sit still.This medicine contains a pesticide that enters the blood stream.Side effects include excessive drooling, itching, vomiting, diarrhea, convulsions, seizures and unfortunately, death.

They do not label their products with a list of side effects nor do they state in emergencies to call your vet.

Please check this out so your animal and you do not have to learn the hard way.I am on the way to my vet right now.

(More customer reviews)I originally bought this product because I gave my other - much more superior flea comb - away. I was attracted to the sleek design and rather low price of this one. After delivery, I proceeded to try the "evolution" flea comb on my dog. Compared to previous flea combs I have owned, this product is not in any way an evolution in flea comb design! My experience with this product was more or less frustrating. While combing my dog, I had to run the comb over her coat 5 to 15 times just to catch one maybe two fleas. Other combs I have used would pick up five to ten fleas with just one sweep! I find I spend nearly twice the amount of time to accomplish less than half the work as I did with my previous flea comb. The only fleas that seem to stick to this one are the really obese ones (and even they slip through frequently). As for the design itself, I noticed the bristles on this comb to be somewhat farther apart and wobbly. Whatever the purpose for this in the design, it has failed to work well or gain my satisfaction. I will be in the market for another flea comb.

Unless you want to spend countless hours each week combing your pet... steer clear of this particular comb!

After vaccuuming, applying flea protection to the dogs, and spraying the carpet and furniture with Mycodex, the fleas seem to be gone.One can did cover the square footage that was listed on the can.

Time will tell how effective everything has worked but the itching and scratching are gone and everyone seems much healthier!

When I put this on my dogs it seemed like the fleas became even more aggressive than they were,and it did not kill any fleas. The dogs were itching like mad and could not even sleep or sit still.I have been reading around the internet that this stuff has sickened and even killed people's precious pets. AND they use cruel testing methods on beloved companion animals which I read on the Peta site. After four weeks I spent the money on Front-line Plus and within days the fleas were all gone.

(More customer reviews)In thirty years we have gotten flea infestations twice. We have always had a couple of dogs and a couple of cats and they have always worn flea collars year round. But when you get infested, it's the pits. Our first time was 20 years ago, we used the foggers, and had to leave the house for hours while the foggers went off - and then clean every surface when we came back and we had to do it like twice in a couple of weeks! So when we got infested again this year, I was really upset... I remembered how hard it was to get rid of them, and how uncomfortable everyone was while doing it. I found this Raid Flea Killer Carpet Spray at Target and it worked really well. (I'm sorry but unless you are going to overnight your spray from Amazon, the sooner you get after the fleas the better you are.)

The smell isn't bad, and within an hour of spraying I went from 10 to 20 fleas on my legs while standing in the infested area of the basement (which is how we discovered we had them, the animals were pretty clean) to none. NONE. Now I don't think we're done yet, fleas are really tough, and it was big room (20' x 30') and I may have missed a few spots. I will probably spray again in a few weeks.

If you have a flea infestation, get this stuff. Worked for us great. Now to summarize from the reviews I saw around the web: Although a lot of reviews said it's OK to spray on dogs,... I wouldn't. Most everyone agrees the smell is bearable. I didn't see ANY reviews that said it didn't work. Yes it's a Chemical... some people objected to that. My day started in a panic because I found we had an infestation in the basement carpet. My day ended with relief that we seem to have knocked it back to near zero. And if it truly kills the eggs like Raid says, then I may have knocked it out entirely. I hate fleas... I now love this Raid Flea Killer Carpet Spray. It worked. Period.

(More customer reviews)I care a lot about my two cats and wanted to get them something that wouldn't harm them.I've read a lot of bad stuff about Frontline and Advantage.Most of the other competitors use something that is basically the same as what those two use.Basically Frontline and Advantage contain a neurotoxin that can be extremely harmful to your pets and humans.Not cool.

I looked up some more natural methods.Always remember - *Natural does not mean non-toxic*.Just because something is man-made doesn't make it toxic and just because something occurs in nature doesn't make it safe.I read some things about using garlic to help dogs avoid fleas - apparently at least somewhat ok for dogs, but can be very toxic for cats.Found some essential oil treatments... also looked like it could be toxic.

So I looked up this stuff.Program is completely different from Advantage and Frontline.The active ingredient in it is Lufenuron.I did as much research on it as I could and basically found that it is chemically inert for mammals.The chemical stays in the pet's fat and doesn't affect them at all supposedly.One study I read basically said "we gave them extremely high dosages of it and found that there is no lethal or harmful dosage".Basically they pumped some animals full of as much lufenuron as they could and nothing happened.Sounds good to me!

Lufenuron DID however get included in a biocide ban in Europe because of its supposed toxicity to zooplankton - unsurprising since lufenuron inhibits chitin production.Chitin is what the exoskeletons of fleas are made out of (this is how it kills flea reproduction on your pet) as well as the exoskeletons of zooplankton.

(More customer reviews)If I could give this zero stars, I would. We have 2 indoor cats and clearly bring fleas in on ourselves from the yard. I thought I was being smart by spending less for this product. Never again will I buy a cheaper product. Not only did these drops not work at all, both cats developed scary side effects, including strange shaking (mini seizures?), drooling, unusual meowing, vomiting and a week-long loss of appetite. After seeing this I read some of the reviews on this product and similar inexpensive drops and can see that it pays to spend more on a more trustworthy product. I hate having to put pesticides on our cats but it is pretty clear to me that the companies that make the more expensive brands really do put their time and money into making sure their products are (what I would call reasonably) safe.

I tried this because it was so much cheaper than the Frontline brand. The medicine is horribly sticky and made my cats' fur a gooey mess. And you can't get the stuff OFF once you put it on! I had to trim my poor cat's fur; grooming herself was making her sick.

This regimen has seemed to work through out the years.
