The customer who gave it one star does not know what they're talking about. It clearly states on the bottle:"Sensitivity may occur after using ANY pesticide product for pets.If any signs of sensitivity occur, bathe your pet with mild soap and rinse with large amounts of water..."

I had great success using De Flea Pet Shampoo and De Flea Pet and Bedding spray on my two dogs. There was no sensitivity like with regular pesticides. But most importantly of all, the flea infestation and itching stopped immediately. It's like a minor miracle.

Botanical Dog Natural Neem and Eucalyptus Flea Shampoo-17 OZ Review

Botanical Dog Natural Neem and Eucalyptus Flea Shampoo-17 OZ
Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)
I had purchased a healthy, happy pedigree Boston Terrier puppy who, once reached 4-6 mos of age, developed a rather severe case of Demodex. After going to vet and being prescribed serious, heavy duty topically-toxic prescriptions (oral meds with and frequent poisonous dips to kill the parasites) I opted to research the problem on my own to find a holistic cure -- and discovered the parasites/mites survive on the skin, appear like mange and are actually dependent on yeast that ultimately comes from the dog's diet and needs to be treated topically with Neem Oil shampoo.

I modified the diet to a solely organic reliable food source (found at website FlintRiver dot com) that provided only foods found in a dog's natural (pre-domesticated) enviornment. They abstain totally from all manner of artificial preservatives, yeast, enzymes, etc. Storebought dog foods fed and maintained the mites/Demodex condition by including ingredients counter to a healthy diet for dogs. The external therapy relied on the weekly use of neem oil shampoo, a natural botanical oil that the mites could not tolerate. After a month of diet and shampoo therapy, my dog had extremely noticable and positive results - after three months, the condition was 98% resolved. By the time my puppy was 1yr old, he had totally overcome his Demodex condition and is healthy, happy and chemical free.

I continue to use this organic neem-oil shampoo exclusively to keep my dogs safe from fleas and ticks in the summer and it works great in that regard as well as keeps my dogs' coats soft, shiney, clean and fresh smelling. I also continue to feed them Flint River dog food since a healthy, organic diet is the best preventative for good healthcare. Also, I have peace of mind knowing I'm feeding my dogs USA-made, USA cultivated organic, human-grade quality food ingredients found in Flint River dog food. Saftey issues with pet food ingredient-sources and subsequent pet food recalls are a real concern and one we don't have to worry about with Flint River.

SynergyLabs Richard's Organics Natural Flea & Tick Shampoo, 12oz Review

SynergyLabs Richard's Organics Natural Flea & Tick Shampoo, 12oz
Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)
I wanted to use all natural products for my small terrier mix dogs, both about 10 pounds. I started this product in the spring, and initially it worked. The dogs were only outside for short walks and to use the bathroom, so their exposure to fleas was limited. However, summer came and we took the dogs rock climbing, camping, hiking, running, etc. This product just wasn't enough for their long periods of exposure, I think. Even when we were washing the dogs 2 times a week with this shampoo, they still got fleas. Then, once the fleas infested the dogs and the house, this wasn't enough to rid ourselves of the fleas. It would kill the fleas during bath time--we would see the fleas on our hands and falling into the white bath tub (dead). However, just hours after the bath, the dogs would be scratching again--it didn't do anything to repel the fleas.

I'm not totally giving up on the shampoo--I might try it next spring in conjunction with another natural product--I did not use this brand of spray (I used another, totally useless one). I like the smell, although it took some getting used to. So, I'm fairly neutral on this shampoo, although I will have to say it didn't quite live up to the claims it made.

Our Pets ecoPure Natural Flea & Tick Spray Review

Our Pets ecoPure Natural Flea & Tick Spray
Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)
This was an absolute waste of money, thank goodness it was cheap. It didn't prevent fleas when I sprayed it on the dogs before we went outside, and it didn't kill the fleas afterward. I would literally see a flea in their fur, saturate the area with the spray, and I could practically hear the flea going "Weeee! Bath time!" I'm pretty sure I could have come closer to getting rid of the fleas if I had just let the dogs eat a $5 bill. Doesn't sound like it would do much, you say? Exactly. Neither did this. Oh, and the smell is ridiculously gross. I'll never eat cloves again. It would have been acceptable if it had worked. But it didn't.

I finally had to give in and put Frontline on the dogs, which I was hoping to avoid. I'm also using a 10% cedar oil spray, and that is helping, as we're dealing with the infestation. Don't waste your time or money or sanity with this.

I give Flea Free 3 stars mainly because the dog's like it. but as far as the flea's go they sill have them . There has been no improvment on the digging and scratching . I'll continue using until its all gone, I'm almost thru with the bottle now. Who knows maybe it will start working at the last minute. I hope !!! But i've got my doubts

Product Description:
Flea Free is an All Natural Liquid Supplement, which when added to your pet's drinking water is ingested and goes to work internally. When Flea Free enters the pet's system, it produces an enzyme that shields the protein the female needs to lay eggs. Not able to find what she is looking for, she exits the animal in search of another host to feed on. If she does not draw blood every 20 - 24 hours, she will die. The male does not bite, and having nothing to fertilize leaves the animal also. This breaks the reproductive cycle. Works on all blood feeing insects: fleas, ticks, mites, lice, mosquitoes and biting flies. Flea Free has over 200 vitamins, minerals and enzymes, so it not only gets rid of insects, it also is a superb food supplement that makes the pet healthy, while it conditions the fur and skin. It has been documented that scratching stops, hair grows back and fur becomes full and thick after using Flea Free. The basic ingredients of Flea Free are Vinegar, Garlic, Citrus & Herbs. Flea Free is SAFE for all animals. It is easy to use (1 tablespoon of Flea Free to 1 quart of drinking water. It is healthy and it works. Our Motto - It works or it's FREE. (32 oz.)

Natural Flea and Tick Spray for Dogs 24-Ounce Review

Natural Flea and Tick Spray for Dogs 24-Ounce
Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)
I have not used this directly on my pet but have been using on the bedding, carpets, hardwood floor and baseboard areas where my dog lays.I live in Georgia so we have a pretty long flea season and it semms to me (AND as relayed by my vet) that the fleas are becoming resistant to the flea meds like spot-ons etc.I tried Frontline Plus spot-on last summer and my dog was literally eaten up with fleas -hotspots EVERYWHERE so I switched back to Advantage regular spot-on (she is sensitive to all the Tick versions)and with my vets words in mind tried a 3-prong approach.Advantage, FOOD-GRADE diatomaceous Earth from Earthworks Health (sprinkled around the back yard where she lays and around the chipmunks holes so they would carry some into their lair, also rubbed some into her coat -from the neck down- every few days -it's supposed to dry out their exo-skeletons) and then used the Spray for the house in the areas I mentioned above, maybe every 3 days -PLUS in the back of my Honda CRV where she sits. Don't FORGET YOUR CAR - I did and it seemed like she got re-infested by some flea eggs that probably were left there to hatch! So now I lay a sheet and towel down back there and shake it out every few days and spray in between.

ALL of this accompanied by thorough vacuuming every 2-3 days and shaking out her bedding AND using a flea comb.

My short-haired dog is constantly out in the yard and we take periodic walks in the woods so she is constantly exposed to fleas & ticks. I never saw any fleas dying and I have STILL seen a few fleas on her when combing BUT the house (or car) does not have any fleas -the few that live are only on the dog.AND she has only had an occasional hotspot and is not chewing herself up like before.

I'm not sure there is any way to get rid of all fleas on some dogs depending on their environment unless you want to use extremely harsh chemicals which can harm your pet.
So it takes alot more effort to keep these pests at bay these days.

Cooler weather is here and I usually refrain from using Advantage from Dec thru Feb so AFTER a bath and washing her bedding, vacuuming and re-spraying etc I will maybe just try the spray on her (lightly, rubbing it on her with my hands) and the diatomaceous earth for those months. We'll see what happens.

This product does not have any detrimental ingredients as far as I can see but would not use it as a sole flea repellant directly on the pet as I imagine you would have to soak them with it and I would be worried that she would rub some in her eyes with her paws.

NaturVet Herbal Flea Spray, 16 Ounce Review

NaturVet Herbal Flea Spray, 16 Ounce
Average Reviews:

Stopped using frontline & have been giving the dogs garlic in their food and using this spray. I added a little bit of peppermint oil to it too as I read that was effective against ticks as well. I live in Florida where fleas and ticks are a huge problem year round so it is a relief to finally find something natural that works. I don't have to worry about how often I use it as it won't hurt my dogs or cats. I also have an aversion to smells since I have asthma & allergies but the smell of it is wonderful and doesn't bother me at all. Definitely try it !

Sergeant's 32-Ounce Skip-Flea and Tick Shampoo Dog Clean Cotton Review

Sergeant's 32-Ounce Skip-Flea and Tick Shampoo Dog Clean Cotton
Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)
Sergeant's "SKIP FLEA and TICK Shampoo" is the only shampoo that WORKS REALLY GOOD for our 3 dogs. They have never had an adverse reaction to the soap.

This is the best flea and tick control shampoo we have used over a 7 year period. Each of the 3 dogs gets a bath every week. This particular brand: "Sergeant's Skip Flea and Tick Shampoo" is the only shampoo we've had excellent success with.It has kept fleas and ticks off of the dogs and out of the house.

I wish it was available locally.

I use only plain shampoo when using Frontline or Advantage for flea and tick control.I feel using two types of flea and tick control simultaneously is overkill. Our preference for flea and tick control is Sergeant's Skip-Flea and Tick Shampoo.

I'm not big on writing reviews but I have to tell you people that are looking for flea shampoo ....THIS STUFF WORKS!The first time I used it I thought maybe it didn't because my dog was scratching a lot but there was no sign of fleas when I gave him a bath.Just the other night, after the first few super hot days of the summer, my dog was itching like CRAZY so I put him in a bath and used this shampoo.I was HORRIFIED at the amount of fleas that came off of him! They ran for the hills.I'm still grossed out thinking about it *shivvers*

My dog can be a little sensitive to products and his inner leg area got a little red so be careful about rubbing it on where more skin is exposed....but get the butt and neck really well and the fleas will rear their ugly little heads!

DeFlea Pet and Bedding Flea Spray for Dogs and Cats, 24-Ounce Review

DeFlea Pet and Bedding Flea Spray for Dogs and Cats, 24-Ounce
Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)
For those that negatively reviewed this product, that's sad. INSTANTLY I saw the fleas trying to get away and one by one, die within seconds! No, its intended use is not to last for a month like topical treatments (which don't work anyhow). This IS safe for pets!
Here's my advice.
1. Don't waste money experimenting.
2. Start with the house. You WILL have to use something to help the carpets/floors/furniture...THIS IS NOT THE PRODUCT FOR THAT! I suggest Fleabusters RX While it might be a little difficult to apply, its WORTH THE EFFORT!!! And the treatment is guaranteed for a year! You can find it on Amazon for $30. Until it arrives, just vacuum every day...its good exercise anyways.
Did you know that only 5% of the fleas in your home are on your pets? The other 95% are IN YOUR carpets and furniture and pet beds!
3. Vacuum, vacuum, vacuum. EVERY DAY!!! THROW THE BAGS IN AN OUTSIDE TRASH CAN AWAY FROM YOUR HOUSE! If you happen to have a bagless vacuum like myself, then clean it out after each use and if you're a freak like me wash it each time with soapy water.
4. Treat pets with this upon first treatment of the house with this stuff! I let this sit in their fur a day. My cat has white fur on her belly. When I sprayed this in that area, I saw all the bloody defication and fleas first hand. =/ Poor kitty. BUT THIS TREATMENT WILL KILL ALL OF THE FLEAS THAT ARE ON YOUR PET THE SECOND YOU SPRAY IT ON THEM.
5. The next day, bathe your pets with flea shampoo. I use the same brand as this spray! You can find that on here for $10. This isn't necessary unless you're a freak like me. You can just use soapy water if you want.
6. Repeat the spray/bath after every 2 weeks for about 4 months. I know it seems like a lot of work, but some of the eggs and stuff can take up to 4 months to hatch!

Then, if you walk a dog or let your pet outdoors, I would suggest dusting their butt with this before letting them in or getting those chewable pills that kill fleas when they bite your pet. Capatrol?? Its called something like that. Especially during flea season if you have one or after playing/encountering with flea infested pets.

I've found topicals and collars to be completely useless...

The only negative thing I can say about this product is that it kind of smells like pepper. Its a weird association to have!
