(More customer reviews)Diatom Dust is an amazing product!I have 2 indoor cats & 2 summers ago we got an infestation of fleas from the dog next door.I don't like to use any kind of insecticide products like Advantage or Frontline on my cats or around them.I've had pretty good luck in the past using an onslaught of flea combing, sprinkling 20 Mule Team Borax on the carpets, vacuuming like crazy, and laundry washing to get rid of occasional infestations but it takes a lot of work.Also, it's hard to get all of the fleas off the cats with just flea combing and if you miss just one they can end up laying eggs and the infestation starts all over again.

However that's when I found Diatom Dust, a completely natural, non-harmful product that you can sprinkle on the cats (just be careful not to get it their eyes or let them to breath it) as well as the carpet + furniture and it dries up the fleas like nobody's business!Just sprinkle it around and later vacuum it up and no more fleas!It also gets rid of ant infestations.I sprinkle it around my balcony and in a line along the sliding glass door between the balcony and my apt. every summer and it keeps the ants from marching into my place.It's a wonderful, non-toxic product made of tiny fossilized diatoms that cut into the shells of offending insects and dry them up in their tracks.Try it, it works!

(More customer reviews)This product does not work! Pay the extra money and get Frontline or another vet recommended product. I used this on my cat and within two weeks she was totally infested with fleas. Then I couldn't use another product on her for 1 month. I have finally been able to use Frontline and within 2 days the fleas are almost gone. It was so hard to watch her suffer for that month. Don't make the same mistake I did in choosing value over quality. This shouln't even have one star but you have to choose at least one.

We have 4 kids, and lots of family over, andI spread it around the places that we frequent in the yard (pool) along the perimeter, and we have had about 3 mosquito bites in 3 weeks.Total!Usually it is about 30 bites/person in SOuth Carolina, but not so far!!!I am defintely recommending ths product!

(More customer reviews)I bought my first bag of this stuff here, on Amazon. I couldn't believe the shipping charges for it, so I just bought 1 bag. I had bugs coming out the wazoo in my back yard. I love hanging out back there and I've tried everything (foggers, sprays, etc.) to get rid of them (although you know you can't get rid of ALL of them) or at least try to tone down the amount of bugs. You'd be out back for no more than 5 minutes and get eaten up enough to go back inside. Once I spread these granules through my yard, over my porch, and through my flower beds, I noticed a big change! It says on the bag to apply regularly to keep it working, so I searched on Google and found that Lowe's had it for $11.44 a bag! So, if you have a Lowe's nearby, check it out. You can look online and do the in store pick-up (for free). I don't recommend having Lowe's deliver it because the shipping cost was over $60!!! But now that I know that my local Lowe's has this stuff, I'll be saving money on those insane shipping charges they got on here! Give this stuff a try! You might surprise yourself! I just bought a new hammock too and don't have to worry about the "grass gnats" coming up and swarming all over me because they're gone too!

This product IS FOOD-GRADE DE.
Avoid contact with the eyes, and excessive inhalation.
DE is the remains of microscopic one-celled plants (phytoplankton) called diatoms that lived in the oceans and lakes that once covered the western part of the US and other parts of the world. These deposits are mined from underwater beds or from ancient dried lake bottoms thousands of years old. This means, DE has an unlimited shelf life provided you keep it dry.
There are food grade DE products that are yellow or tan in color, which indicates a higher iron content. Those that are gray in color contain more clay.
When DE comes in contact with the insects, the sharp edges lacerate the bugs' waxy exoskeleton and then the powdery DE absorbs the body fluids causing death from dehydration. Food grade DE works in a purely physical/mechanical manner, not 'chemical' and thus has no chemical toxicity. Best yet, parasites don't build up a tolerance/immunity to its chemical reaction, so rotation of wormers is unnecessary.
