(More customer reviews)I have been using this Advamtixfor years with my Lhasa Apso.When I first bought it I ask my son-in-law (a biochemist) to check it out to see if it was safe to use.He called in a few days to say he wished he had found this because it is only effective on a flea.No danger to dog or people.If you read the warnings on most flea stuff you will see all the warnings.

Other thing I really like is it is easy to put on the dog.Just take top off and apply it between the shoulder blades.

Pool grade will probably kill you; be sure to purchase food grade - it is harmless; follow directions.
Great price on Amazon - but the shipping $$$ is high, IMHO. Bottom line: good product, good price, no pesticides. My little chi gets seizures from chemicals, and my 55lb. dog is 15 years old, and I am happy not to give either of them chemicals or poisons, which ultimately effect us, too. (More customer reviews)There was a time a few years ago when pyretherins, a botanical pesticide, including Deltametherin. killed bed bugs on contact and had a good residual effect. This is no longer the case. As any honest exterminator will tell you, bugs eventually become immune to longstanding pesticides. Two years ago, J. T. Eaton's Bed Bug Killer II worked great in my apartment building. Now, even if you spray it directly on the bed bug, the parasite will stagger away as if it visited the neighborhood tavern. Once a great product, the bed bug has become resistant to it. The best a do-it-yourselfer can hope for is to purchase one of the "Eco-friendly" sprays, usually Laurel Sulfate, which will kill the bed bug on contact, but has no residual effect. Unfortunately, an exterminator with a heavy hitter like Bayer's Drione, a professional strength pyretherin dust, needs to be on the scene and even that is iffy, because Drione is a pyretherin.

(More customer reviews)This is the flea medication my vet suggested. I've been using it on my 80lb german shepherd for over a year now, and it works wonders. If I ever go too long without giving him his dose, and he happens to end up with fleas, it is amazing to watch them fall off of him, dead, within 24 or so hours. I've also noticed I can usually go 1 1/2 to 2 months between doses before the fleas start coming back, instead of the 1 they recommend, which saves money in the long run.

I tried less expensive products available in local stores and they did not work for more than a day or two at best. Most likely, because they did not kill the eggs or larva.

If you are reading this review you may already know that fleas have a 4-stage life cycle - Eggs, larva, pupa, flea. Many products kill the fleas only, which is a complete waste of your time and money. You MUST use a product with an Insect Growth Regulator (IGR) or they will continue to hatch and lay more eggs.

When using this product, I followed the directions and moved furniture, vacuumed like a mad woman and sprayed under couches before moving them back into position. It was a grueling day but it seems it was well worth it. For the price of one can, it looks like I may have finally rid my home of the nasty little suckers.

If things change in the next week or two, I'll post an update. But for now, it's looking very good. Yay!

********UPDATE***********

It's been 3 weeks and NOT ONE FLEA! They are GONE. GREAT PRODUCT!!!!!!

After experiencing a flea infestation and trying just about every product out there (I did NOT use a flea bomb), this product saved my sanity!Along with it's partner - Capstar - I can say I have no more fear of a flea infestation.

Program is a pill your pet takes once a month for preventative measures.The Capstar is a pill you give your pet at the first sighting of a flea.It says it starts to work within 1/2 hour, mine worked even faster.

I don't know that you can say any more - these products were awesome!I will never use another product as, in my opinion, this one will save you time and money in the long run.Your pet will agree!

As a side note - I overheard my vet telling a client that the flea bombs are worthless and not to use them as they do not actually get into the cracks and crevices where fleas and their eggs hide.

One other note is to remember to wash all your bedding and vacuum everywhere (especially your furniture and under beds and furniture with open bottoms) in your house if you have a flea infestation.Seeing a couple fleas on your animals may or may not warrant that. Also remember to empty your vacuum cleaner right away after vacuuming and dispose of the bag or contents in a bag, seal and put in a garbage can ASAP so the live fleas do not get back out and reinfest your home.

(More customer reviews)Our 2 puppies got it this year and, as far as I can tell, they are bug-free so far. I can't say whether this is because of Frontline or because there are no fleas in surroundings but, until evidence to the contrary emerges, I will give Frontline the credit.

The makers claim that Frontline Plus kills all fleas and prevents re-infestation for up to one month. For 'paralysis tick' protection, bi-weekly application is recommended but results are not guaranteed.

The product comes in a number of 'pipettes' that contain an oily-sticky liquid that is applied on the back of the dog's neck's, on the skin (must part the coat until the skin is visible). The makers recommend monthly applications.

I found it easy to treat the dogs. Given the relatively high price of this product, I've been using one pipette for our 2 puppies. As they are now big, this may no longer be an option but I can see how this option could be a money saver for anyone who has 2 'not so large' dogs.

I am taking one star away because of the ridiculously high price.
